GPPCSA donates D250,000 to Tanka Tanka

The Gambia Printing Publishing Cooperation Staff Association (GPPCSA) on Monday gave out D250,000 to Tanka Tanka, the only psychiatric centre in the country giving out free psychiatric treatment.
Out of the D250, 000, the sum of food and domestic items worth D150,000 , were given. They include: ten gallons of 20-liter cooking oil, ten bags of rice, ten bags of sugar, ten cartoons of soap, hundred pairs of slippers, ten buckets of mayonnaise, amongst others, while a cheque for D100,000 is meant for the purchase of medicine.
Pa Sonko, programme manager Health Service, on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, expressed gratitude to The Gambia Printing Publishing Cooperation Staff Association for the gesture. According to him, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, specifically the directorate of Health Promotion and Education have a programme area whereby they encourage associations, NGOs to lend a helping hand to ensure that effective mental service is delivered to people in the mental health services. Sonko assured the donors that the money donated for purchase of medications will be put to good use.
